A Tarot Spread for a Workplace Conflict
When to use this spread
Workplace conflicts are rarely about their stated subject — the meeting invite says 'process alignment' and the nervous system says 'territory war'. This spread digs for the root, owns your part, reads the pressures on the other side without pretending to mind-read, and lands on the boundary or bridge that actually helps.
It borrows the Horseshoe's engine room: hidden influences, real obstacle, environmental weather.
The layout
1 · The conflict's root
What is this actually about, beneath the stated subject?
2 · Your part
What am I contributing — action, tone, story — to keeping this alive?
3 · The pressures on them
What forces and constraints (visible ones) shape the other side's behaviour?
4 · What de-escalates
What would genuinely lower the temperature here?
5 · Your boundary
What line, held calmly, protects my work and my peace?

How to read it
Position 1 usually reframes the fight — status, credit, safety, or workload hiding inside a process dispute. Read position 2 as a professional, not a penitent: one owned contribution, stated plainly. Position 3 deliberately reads pressures, not intentions — deadlines, incentives, fears you can observe — because conflicts soften the moment behaviour gets explained by constraints instead of malice. Positions 4 and 5 travel together: de-escalation without a boundary invites repetition; a boundary without de-escalation invites war.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the best tarot spread for conflict at work?
- Five positions: the conflict's root, your part in it, the visible pressures on the other side, what de-escalates, and the boundary to hold calmly.
- Can tarot tell me my colleague's intentions?
- No — the spread reads observable pressures instead, which is more useful anyway: most workplace behaviour is explained by constraints, and reading it that way opens exits that mind-reading closes.
- What if the reading shows I'm partly at fault?
- Then it's working. Position 2 exists because your contribution is the only lever you fully control — owning one part, without collapse or defence, is usually the fastest de-escalation available.
